Crafty Weekend

This weekend I had an itch to get crafty! Usually this means more of a mess than production, but this weekend I chose to do something quick and easy. The Husband thanks me. Here are the directions in case you want to do the same:

Monogram Door Mat

  • Go to your local Ross and picking out an outdoor rug. (mine cost cost $2.99)
  • Print out a big letter for your initial. (I used Microsoft Word to find the font I liked best and then printed it as big as I could in the center of the page.)
  • Cut out the letter to make a stencil and set up your work space. See pic below:
  • Tape the homemade stencil to the door mat and begin spray painting, at close range.

Here are the results:

Thrift Store Deals

Lately, Granny and I find ourselves browsing around in thrift stores. There are a few really good thrift stores in our area, and they are great places for us to find clothes for her and money making deals for me. My latest find, for example, was this beautiful, brand new Vera Bradley purse. I paid $24.99 for it and, as of two hours ago, have now sold it for $40.00 on Craigslist. I debated keeping this find, but then decided I had to sacrifice to make a little income for the family, not to mention I get some weird high from selling things for more than I paid for them. Never underestimate someone else's trash!

Is it your Birthday?

This year Disney World is giving their guests a free ticket on their birthday. How wonderful is that!?! Too sad we may be moving before my birthday this year. If your birthday is coming up, this is a deal that should be considered, especially if you have other family or friends with the same birthday. The Husband says this advertisement is a trap because everyone who comes with you will have to pay. I think it is a good excuse to come to Disney!

Friend

I had the great privilege of seeing an old friend this weekend. It was so wonderful conversing with her candidly over coffee, and deep into the night. We talked about life, our fears, our struggles, our questions, joys, and hopes. How wonderful it is to be with people who know you well. The ones who can hear the whispers of your heart, even though your forgot it said anything at all. I am so thankful for friends like that.
